Where is Callander?
Callander is a small town tucked away in central Scotland in the council of Stirling, by the river Teith. It is a charming town endowed with great natural beauty and is known as the gateway to the ever popular Loch Lomond (Loch = Lake) and Trossachs National Park.
The town boasts of numerous small hikes and walks which offer spectacular views of the Highlands to the north and the Lowlands to its south by virtue of it being just 2kms away from the Highland Boundary Fault. We did hike this lovely crag at Callander and enjoyed it. Here it is for you all…
The Hike to Callander Crags
We were put up very close to the popular crags during our stay in Callander. It took us just a 2-minute ride to the starting point of the Crags from the main street of the town and we could enjoy a lovely morning to ourselves. Follow the sign board on the street to reach the car park at Callander crags and start the trail.
The red marker trail takes us through the woods for a while and then up a clearing with sweeping views of Callander on one side and the vast rolling hills on the other. The final stretch of the Callander Crags trail is a bit steep where one has to climb a rocky patch to reach the Jubilee Cairns.
On the way back, you can combine this hike with a quick detour to Bracklinn falls as well. Reach the car park and follow the sign board there to enjoy the falls.
The short hike to Callander crags was a lot of fun with a bit of exercise, lots of amazing views followed by a hearty brunch in town. It indeed was a morning well spent taking in the beauty of the terrain.
Ended the Hike With a Delicious Brunch…
Brunch at Deli Ecosse in Callander – lovely baked potatoes, toasties, panini sandwich and coleslaw
